Care that honors Jewish traditions with compassion and respect
The word Tikvah means hope.
The Tikvah Jewish Care and Support Program helps us honor Jewish traditions with compassionate, personalized care – guiding patients and families through life’s most complex moments with dignity and connection.

What makes the Tikvah program special
Tikvah is part of how Empath delivers Full Life Care across our footprint. The program helps ensure Jewish patients receive care that honors their values, rituals, and cultural traditions.
Care can take place wherever you call home. We help families feel comfort, peace, and connection.
For our Jewish patients and families, we are happy to provide:
- Individualized Shabbat Services along with a Shabbat Box that includes candles, grape juice and challah.
- Holiday programming and ritual items (such as menorahs for Chanukah)
- Prayerbooks, Chumashim (Five Books of Moses), and other Jewish resources related to end-of-life care
- Certified Kosher Meals available upon request for patients admitted to our in-patient facilities
- Rocks to Remember – Specialized rocks painted with love to take to cemeteries for unveilings and visits
- Rabbi visits and consultations by ordained Rabbis
- Resources to the larger Jewish Community (Synagogues, Jewish Federation, Funeral Homes, and chevrah kaddisha)
- Access to clinical staff trained to support Holocaust Survivors
- Access to volunteer visits (Bikur Cholim)

Mitzvah and volunteer opportunities
A Mitzvah is defined as an act of kindness that is commanded upon the Jewish people and generally referred to as a “good deed”.
The Tikvah program gives people an opportunity to participate in Mitzvot through simple and caring ways. These small acts make a big difference.
Tikvah Jewish Care and Support Program is proud to be active throughout the community, participating in Mitzvah Days at synagogues and Jewish agencies.
In addition, Tikvah offers hands‑on Mitzvah opportunities at our Empath Trustbridge Care Centers, where volunteers come together to pack special items for our Jewish patients. People of all ages can take part and we warmly welcome B’nai Mitzvah students who wish to participate in these projects.
